PITTSBURGH — The Opal Group cut the ribbon on Opafe, a new artisan bakery at the South Side Works.
The 2720 Sidney St. bakery features both scratch made baked goods and a full service coffee bar, with an emphasis on Vietnamese coffee, as well as matcha tea drinks. The bakery features a large menu of European and Asian inspired pastries, including matcha chocolate croissants and malassadas, and it plans to soon offer custom cakes.
“We try to see what people like and we will try to put a new item out every single day to see what everybody wants,” Andy Qian, Opal Group CEO, said. “We just try to get some things (that are) new, like Japanese donuts. We bring some new ideas, I would say, like combining French style and ancient Asian flavor.”
