WHITE OAK, Pa. — White Oak’s police chief confirmed investigators recovered two cars stolen from a neighborhood early Monday.
Surveillance video shows around 4:15 a.m. Monday, five people ran through the neighborhood searching for unlocked cars. In two cases, keys had been left in the vehicles, and both cars were stolen.
The operation lasted just over a minute, with residents and victims finding out after they woke up.
“It just seemed so organized,” Armando Henriquez said. “It’s not like just like some 14-year-old just happened to go up to my car and open up the door. It was like these kids have done this before.”
Henriquez said his credit card was used to purchase more than $2,000 of merchandise at big-box stores in Monroeville.
The owner of one of the stolen cars shared pictures of her Altima, which had a smashed bumper and no tread left on the tires.
Police said they chased the Altima down the parkway into Pittsburgh before it was recovered around Bates Street. The second car was recovered in McKeesport.
Investigators did not say if any arrests were made. Henriquez said they had obtained video of the suspects shopping at Target with his credit card.
It’s not clear if these thieves are connected to an apparent ring of teenagers who have repeatedly taken cars throughout the Pittsburgh metro area.
