ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — UPDATE 7:15 p.m.- Nearly 5,000 Duquesne Light Company customers remain without power amid high temperatures.
Duquesne Light Company shared the following statement in regards to the outages:
“Duquesne Light Company crews are currently responding to several outages in the North Hills area. The loss of power is likely due to extreme heat placing stress on electrical equipment. These situations can occur when temperatures exceed 90 degrees.
“There is no estimated restoration time at this time as crews continue to assess equipment and determine what repairs may be necessary.”
At this time, 4,260 power outages have been reported in Allegheny County.
Of those outages, 4,603 are in a Pittsburgh mailing address.
Over 10,000 people are without power amid high temperatures in Allegheny County.
According to Duquesne Light Company, 10,610 customers are without power.
A majority of power outages are in the 15202 ZIP code, with nearly 6,000 reported in those communities. In the 15237 ZIP code, nearly 2,500 power outages have been reported, followed by over 1,300 power outages reported in the 15229 ZIP code area.
Channel 11 has reached out to Duquesne Light Company to learn what is causing the power outages in those areas. We are waiting to hear back.

Duquesne Light said it has increased staffing to better handle severe disruptions brought on by the heavy heat and any severe storms.
