Park officials give update following deadly rockslide on Great Allegheny Passage

CONNELLSVILLE, Pa. — Park officials shared an update on the investigation into a deadly rockslide that happened on the Great Allegheny Passage.

The trail is closed between mile markers 87 and 89, near the Sheepskin Trail. New information shared by Ohiopyle State Park on social media on Tuesday said the area will remain closed until the investigation is complete.

Investigators include Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) staff, stakeholders, geologists and engineers.

Those teams are working to discover what caused the rockslide that killed Gail Luck, 79, of Germantown, WI, and injured her husband.
