PITTSBURGH — Despite his tenure coming to an end, Mayor Bill Peduto says his focus is on justice for Jim Rogers.

“It will be unfilled business, but it will be business that will have begun,” Mayor Bill Peduto told reporters Tuesday.

Mayor Peduto confirmed that disciplinary action reports have started being handed out to the nine officers involved in the tasing of Jim Rogers.

Rogers died a day after he was shocked with a Taser stun gun more than eight times. Sources tell Channel 11 that Rogers pleaded for help, and told officers that he couldn’t breathe before losing consciousness.

“I can tell you that we did begin the process of discipline. We are seeking justice. We have done so throughout, and will do so until the very last day,” Mayor Peduto said.

We’ve also learned the high-ranking Pittsburgh police officer on duty the day of Rogers’ death, who has since resigned, will also face disciplinary action.

“The one who is not on the force is also receiving a DAR. Under the new state law, your file transfers if they decide to join another force, this will follow them,” Mayor Peduto added.

At this point, it’s unclear what the disciplinary action will be for each officer. Sources tell Target 11 that some officers will be fired, and others will be demoted.

“From the beginning of this administration, we have focused on justice, and we will continue to the very last day of our administration,” the mayor said.

No criminal charges have been announced for any of the officers involved.
