PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto said several items were missing or damaged when he moved into the downtown Pittsburgh offices when he was inaugurated. Now Peduto said the cost of all the items exceeds $200,000.

Peduto said since taking office, he’s discovered damage to four chandeliers. Peduto told Channel 11’s Rick Earle that he suspects the damage was intentional.

“They survived 100 years, and multiple mayors, there’s no wear and tear that would have done this,” said Peduto. “All of the chandeliers in the mayor’s office had been damaged.”

"In this case, given that the amount that's damaged and missing, approximately $200,000, it warrants being turned over to the FBI," Peduto said. "What I hope is that the public property is returned to the public, and that the damages caused don't end up on the taxpayers having to pay for it."

Earle also reported that a painting of William Penn was slashed. Last month, Target 11 was the first to report about the missing items, which include an antique clock, a vase and a Super Bowl trophy worth $30,000.
