SEWICKLEY, Pa. — Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby helped hand-deliver season tickets to families on Tuesday.
Handing out tickets is part of a tradition that goes back nearly 20 years.
Crosby met the Duryea family in Sewickley with jerseys in hand.
He even signed an excused absence for one of their daughters, giving her a good reason to skip school today.
“I got a rush of excitement, I got really excited, and I couldn’t stop. I just wanted to scream,” Lucy Duryea said.
Lucky ticket holders are told ahead of time that a player will be delivering their tickets, but they never know who it’s going to be.
The tradition of a Pens player meeting with a season ticket holder dates back to 2007.
