PENN HILLS, Pa. — A local police chief is on paid administrative leave.
11 Investigates sources say Penn Hills Police Chief Jason Bonace has been on paid administrative leave since Aug. 21, pending a Loudermill hearing (a due process hearing).
Sources say the chief learned of the news when he was locked out of the building without notice. The reason for the leave is not currently known.
Bonace has been with the department for over 20 years. He became acting chief when Chief Ronald Como retired last summer. He was officially sworn in as chief in Februrary.
A Change.org petition titled “standing with the chief” was started by an officer a few days ago and has garnered around 300 signatures.
