CARLISLE, Pa. — A Pennsylvania state police helicopter and a small airplane collided on Wednesday night.
The FAA said a Bell 407 helicopter collided with a Cessna 150 airplane midair in Carlisle at 7:50 p.m.
Officials said the person who was in the plane died. Their identity has not been released at this time.
There were two troopers inside the helicopter. They were taken to a hospital in Hershey for treatment.
Officials said the helicopter was doing routine training when the airplane approached a runway and tried to land. Investigators said the plane veered right at the last moment and hit the back of the helicopter.
The NTSB has been called to lead the investigation.
Governor Josh Shapiro responded to the crash scene shortly after learning it happened.
Attorney General Dave Sunday also sent support to the people involved in the crash.
Treasurer Stacy Garrity also expressed concern and support for everyone involved.
