Pennsylvania State Police warned businesses and establishments Wednesday that they could soon face penalties for operating skill game machines.
The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania ruled June 15 that skill games are slot machines, as defined in the Gaming Act.

Under the Crimes Code, slot machines are considered gambling devices, and those without a license commit a crime by owning, operating or maintaining one.
If unlicensed establishments operate skill games, they could be criminally prosecuted and have their machines seized starting Oct. 14, state police say.

PSP recommends that businesses discuss with their distributors or vendors about removing any skill games and related equipment. It’s not enough to just power off the machine.
If a vendor doesn’t want to remove the machines, establishments are encouraged to contact PSP.
