PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh’s center fielder Andrew McCutchen made history Thursday night, becoming the first Pirates player to win four consecutive Silver Slugger awards.

According to MLB.com writer Adam Berry, Barry Bonds took home three straight for the Pirates from 1990-92, and pitcher Rick Rhoden won three in a row from 1984-86.

While some of his numbers dipped slightly due to a slump in April, McCutchen was still one of the MLB’s best offensive outfielders of the year.
He hit .292/.401/.488 with 23 home runs and a career-high-tying 96 RBIs. McCutchen also set a career high with 98 walks.
Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper and Rockies right fielder Carlos Gonzalez joined McCutchen as the National League's Silver Slugger Award-winning outfield trio.
