PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates have made a donation of 60 pieces of metal detection equipment to Pittsburgh Public Schools.

The organization said the donation is valued at over $250,000 and consists of 30 CEIA PMD2 walk-through metal detectors and 30 divesting tables.
According to a press release, the donation will play a critical role in supporting safety measures that Pittsburgh Public Schools already has in place.
The equipment was previously used at PNC Park but was replaced when the Pirates installed new Evolv screening technology at each of the stadium’s gates before the 2023 season.
