PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates announced that they have placed RHP Vince Velasquez on the 15-day IL with right elbow inflammation.
In addition, Chase De Jong has been activated from his rehab assignment and has been placed back on the major league roster.
In some minor league news, Drew Maggi has cleared waivers and was outrighted to the Pirates Double-A affiliate in Altoona.
