PITTSBURGH — Sunday is going to be a busy day on the North Shore with both the Pirates and Steelers hosting games.
With an expected sell-out Pirates game in the afternoon and the Steelers playing Sunday night, officials said anyone traveling to the North Shore area should expect major traffic and parking issues.
The Pirates are taking on the Cincinatti Reds at 1:35 p.m. and the Steelers play the Bears at Heinz Field at 8:30 p.m.
As Steelers fans come to the North Shore to tailgate, there will be a major shortage of parking spaces because thousands of people will be at the Pirates game.
To help with the lack of tailgating space, Stage AE will open at 12:30 p.m. for fans who park downtown, who take the T or arrive by boat or bicycle.
ALCO Parking has informed the Steelers that Gold Lots 4,5,6, the Blue 10 Garage and the West General Robinson Red 5 Garage will not be available for fans until 6 p.m., even if they have presold parking passes to the football game.
Officials from the Steelers are encouraging fans with parking passes to arrive on the North Shore after 6 p.m.
Additionally, inbound ramps and traffic patterns will be closed around both stadiums until the lots open for Steelers fans.
