For the sixth straight year, Pittsburgh has been named one of Forbes “Best Places to Retire.”
The publication identified their top 25 choices across the U.S. for “high quality” retirement living at an affordable price.
Pittsburgh has made the list for 11 of 13 years despite its above-average crime rate.
The publication says it’s one of the most affordable cities on the East Coast with “an abundance of universities providing cultural and learning opportunities and first-rate medical care.” Other pros it lists include multiple rivers, median home price 42% below the national median, bikeable and walkable and three seasons of comfortable climate.
Cons that are listed include a serious crime rate above the national average and cold winters.
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, also made the list.
