PITTSBURGH — Calling all artists! The City of Pittsburgh is seeking original posters that celebrate local culture and heritage.
Open to Pittsburgh residents of all ages, the Pittsburgh America 250 City Art Poster Project recognizes the city’s unique place in American history.
“Pittsburgh has always been a city of makers, artists, builders, and people willing to imagine what comes next,” said Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O’Connor said. “As we continue to celebrate 250 years of our nation, we want Pittsburgh’s artists to help tell our part of that story — where we’ve been, who we are today, and what we hope to become.”
Artists are encouraged to explore Pittsburgh’s people, landscape, industry or other aspects in their poster, reflecting on the question: “What does Pittsburgh contribute to the American story — and what do you hope Pittsburgh will become over the next 250 years?”
The grand prize is $5,000 and official designation as Pittsburgh’s America 250 City Art Poster. Five other finalists will get $1,000 each. The city will publicly recognize the top six.
Groups and organizations located in the city can also submit posters, which can be collaborative. Artwork must be created by humans, and AI-generated work is prohibited.
The submission period runs until Oct. 14 at 5 p.m.

The city’s poster project is part of the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Freedom 250 City Art Poster Project, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
