PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh-area man is accused of misusing another person’s Social Security benefits.
Daniel M. Wallar, 70, of North Braddock, was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of theft of public money and representative payee misuse, the Department of Justice announced Friday.
The indictment claims that Wallar, while the representative payee on another person’s Social Security benefit account, converted the payments for other purposes.
The alleged conduct happened from June 3, 2019, to May 30, 2025.
If convicted, Wallar could face 10 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $250,000 for the theft charge. The misuse charge carries up to five years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine.
The Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General’s investigation led to Wallar’s indictment.
