PITTSBURGH — University of Pittsburgh men’s basketball coach Jamie Dixon came across a car accident early Wednesday morning and called 911.

The accident happened on the Boulevard of the Allies around 12:30 a.m. near the Veterans Bridge.

According to Pitt officials, Dixon was not involved in the accident. He called 911, and while he was waiting to make sure everyone was OK, another accident happened.

Officials said the crash could have been caused by ice. Two people were taken to area hospitals. Their names and conditions have not been released.

Dixon also played a role in a car crash in 2010.

He helped rescue two people from an overturned vehicle on I-279.

"It was headed straight toward the wall and hit it head-on and flipped," said Dixon in 2010. "I got cuts on my hands from pulling back the windshield. I did what anyone else in Pittsburgh would've done."
