Pittsburgh man charged in deadly Wilkinsburg shooting

WILKINSBURG, Pa. — A Pittsburgh man has been charged with homicide in connection with a deadly shooting that happened in Wilkinsburg in January.

The Allegheny County Police Department filed charges against Jason Levelle Moran, 41, on Monday.

Investigators identified Moran as a suspect in the murder of Jack Johnson, 31.

Johnson was found in the street at the 700 block of South Avenue on Jan. 13 at 8:42 p.m.

Allegheny County Police said Johnson had been shot in the head.

A criminal complaint filed against Moran said that a man with a notable face and hand tattoo was seen on surveillance cameras at the scene.

Officers used those cameras to track the man with tattoos to an apartment building on Wood Street. That man leaves the apartment in an Uber.

Police met with several witnesses who were seen in the various videos and learned Moran’s street aliases: “Flame” and “Face.”

Officers said multiple witnesses identified Moran as the suspect out of a photo lineup.

Moran was taken into custody on Monday and is being held at the Allegheny County Jail.
