Pittsburgh EMS buying new high-tech mannequins

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh medics are buying new high-tech mannequins to help them with more specific training.

The new mannequins are unique because of their ability to mock situation a real human being might be in. For example, one mannequin will be able to simulate childbirth.

According to our partners at TribLIVE.com, medics in training will be able to practice using a defibrillator mannequin and measure its heart rate and blood pressure.

The mannequins will cost $152,000. The City Council approved the purchase on Tuesday.

The new equipment is expected to arrive by early 2024.
