PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh firefighter has been suspended without pay for violating city policy by adding politics to official government reports.
Sources tell Chief Investigator Rick Earle the firefighter was suspended for two weeks after signing his official reports with “MAGA” or “Make America Great Again.”
The firefighter went before a trial board of fellow firefighters.
After hearing testimony and evidence in the case, sources say, the board recommended a two-week unpaid suspension.
Fire union president Ralph Sicuro sent this statement to 11 Investigates:
“As with any disciplinary matter, the union’s responsibility is to ensure that the member is treated fairly, that due process is followed, and that any discipline imposed is consistent with the collective bargaining agreement and applicable civil service protections.”
Sources tell 11 Investigates the firefighter has been with the city for more than 20 years.
It’s not clear if he plans to appeal the suspension.
