Pittsburgh International Airport taps Skild AI-powered robots for pilot program

The Pittsburgh International Airport will soon have tech from one of the city’s hottest robotics startups roaming around.

As part of the airport’s xBridge innovation program, four legged robots operating on Skild AI’s software will be monitoring the terminal, initially monitoring air quality and eventually checking for spills and overflowing trash bins. Skild, which develops AI models for existing robots to work on, raised a massive $1.4 billion funding round earlier this year and recently claimed it has hit a $100 million annual recurring revenue rate.

The program also announced that it is working with Texas-based Arrow Analytics for a pilot with Southwest Airlines. The startup’s tech uses a suite of cameras and analytical software to give airlines a better estimate of how much overhead carry-on baggage space remains available on a plane while boarding.
