PITTSBURGH — A woman found stabbed to death in her South Side Slopes home has been identified.

Tarae C. Washington, 47, was found in her Arlington Avenue home Thursday, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.

Pittsburgh police were called to investigate before 7 p.m.

Family members told police they hadn’t heard from the woman for a while and went to check on her. That’s when they found her body.

Many neighbors drove by and watched what they could of the scene. One woman was clearly shaken by the incident.

“It’s gonna shock me because I walk these streets. That’ll definitely be something. It hurts,” Robin Kasperowski said.

“Right now, we have the Violent Crime Unit and the Mobile Crime Unit processing evidence. It’s a very active and ongoing investigation at this time,” Pittsburgh Police Public Information Officer Cara Cruz said.

No one is in custody and police would not say if a weapon was recovered.
