Pittsburgh police searching for men who shot into home of mother, 3 children

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police are looking for three men who shot into a home Thursday night that was occupied by a woman and her three children.

According to a release from police, an officer working an approved security detail in the Oak Hill housing complex with a security officer heard three gunshots at 7:54 p.m. and initially though they were being fired upon as they walked along the 100 block of Oak Hill Drive.

The officer and guard said they saw three black men run from the area of the woman’s home and chased them but did not catch them.

Authorities later determined that the men had fired upon the occupied home. The woman and her children were not injured.

“I heard about four or five shots going off. We were upstairs, then I heard three more in the back,” Chimere Jackson said.

Jackson was visiting her mother, who lives next to the targeted house, when she heard the gunshots.

“I saw the lady. She was out there crying and a couple little kids, teenagers,” she said.

A 911 caller reported seeing a man with a gun run into an apartment on Burrows Street, but police were not able to locate anyone there.

Authorities have not said what may have motivated the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
