Pittsburgh Public Schools hosted its annual “Take a Child to School Day.”
The event encourages positive role models to bring a child to school and meet with the district.
Channel 11 was there as Superintendent Dr. Wayne Walters welcomed those guardians.
The event is held in partnership with the Take A Father to School Day Committee, which works to get male role models involved in children’s lives, but the event has expanded.
“We’re excited that male role models, fathers, uncles, cousins, grandfathers and even mothers are coming to bring their child to school, so we are celebrating that today,” Walters said.
The superintendent says the district hopes to have other events to encourage engagement throughout the school year.
This is the fourth year the event has been held.
