PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium announced Friday its plans to open a brand new exhibit this summer.
Zoo leaders said “The Islands” will offer an “immersive atmosphere with cascading waterfalls, ponds, and the unique sounds of endangered animals.”
Visitors will get a chance to see unique animals such as siamangs, Visayan warty pigs, clouded leopards, and Philippine crocodiles.
As part of the zoo’s improvements, a new eating area called the Jambo Grill will open.
Officials said the restaurant will now include more indoor seating, an outdoor patio area and a terrace that will allow visitors to “take in panoramic views of elephants, giraffes, zebras and cheetahs.”
The Jambo Grill will also offer more food options alongside healthier food choices.
