PITTSBURGH — SportsPITTSBURGH has partnered with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania to launch “Play With Purpose,” an initiative aimed at educating children about career opportunities in the sports industry beyond playing on the field.
The program focuses on teaching skills such as teamwork and leadership to help build future leaders.
Organizers hope to show young sports participants how their passion for athletics can translate into long-term professional paths.
Jim Britt, vice president of sports events for visitPITTSBURGH, spoke about the program’s goals for local youth.
“All the kids that are here have signed up because they love sports, they want to be a part of sports, they’re playing sports now,” Britt said. “But we want to show them all of the different career opportunities that are available in all of the different fields.”
