A local school district is conducting remediation measures within its middle school over Labor Day weekend after air quality tests revealed elevated mold concentrations.
In a letter to families, the Plum Borough School District said it recently conducted air-quality tests at the middle school because of elevated humidity.
While total indoor mold concentrations sampled were significantly lower than outdoor levels, tests showed slightly higher concentrations of one specific mold type in three locations compared to outdoor air.
In response to the findings, the district hired a professional remediation company over Labor Day weekend to clean, conduct remediation measures and take steps to decrease humidity in the building.
Normal school schedules and classes are expected to proceed without interruption on Tuesday.
