Point Park baseball team preparing for NAIA World Series

PITTSBURGH — Most college baseball programs are done for the season, but not the Pioneers of Point Park University.

The Pioneers (51-9) are set to play in the 56th Annual NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.

Point Park will open the tournament against the College of Idaho (41-19) on May 25.

Offensively, the Pioneers are ranked 17th in the country, scoring 7.4 runs a game.

Point Park features a solid pitching staff that is ranked seventh nationally with a 2.96 team ERA.

The Pioneers will be making their eleventh trip to the NAIA World Series. Point Park's last trip to World Series came 14 years ago.

All time the Pioneers are 1,156-626-9.

The other teams in the World Series are LSU-Shreveport, Lee (Tenn.), Oklahoma City, Tennessee Wesleyan, Embry Riddle (Fla.), Lewis-Clark St. (Idaho), S. Carolina-Beaufort, Rogers St. (Okla.) and the College of Idaho.
