“These are all young people shooting each other, and I get very sad about that because there’s no value of life,” said Homestead Mayor Betty Esper. “The sad part is, if a policeman would've shot him, this whole town would be in an uproar, and nobody gets in an uproar when a young man shoots another young man.”

A crowd of people was seen consoling each other after the shooting.

Authorities later identified the victim as 21-year-old Jaymon Brown.

According to detectives, Brown was walking down Mifflin Street when two men pulled up in a gray car, jumped out and shot him.

"It's just heartbreaking. A young guy killed over nonsense,” said Brown’s uncle, Adrian Batts. “He was just another young guy trying to get his life straight. He fell victim.”

Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman told Channel 11 News that officers are looking for a dark gray or charcoal newer-model Hyundai Sonata.

Schurman said police do not have a license plate for the vehicle, but they are looking at Brown’s cellphone for any clues on what led to the shooting.
