PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police said a father is facing several charges after passing out at an area laundromat, leaving his 3-year-old alone.

Investigators said they were called to the Always Washing Laundromat on Western Avenue on Tuesday.

Officers said when they arrived, a crying 3-year-old, dressed in only underwear and socks, was found. He was taken to UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh as a precaution, but was not hurt.

After several minutes, officers were able to wake the boy’s father, who informed them that he had custody of the child at the time and that the women with him was not the boy’s mother.

Meanwhile, the child’s father and his girlfriend were passed out on drugs inside the business, police said.

Jeffrey Morinello, 33, of Pittsburgh, was arrested and has been charged with endangering the welfare of children, public drunkenness and possession of controlled substance and contraband.

The boy’s mother was called and the Office of Children Youth and Families is investigating.
