GREENSBURG, Pa. — A Lowber man was arrested Sunday in Westmoreland County after officers found heroin in his car during a traffic stop, police said.
According to police, Dwayne Vargo, 33, was a passenger in a car that was pulled over after exiting the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Greensburg Sunday about 1 p.m.
State Trooper John Dixon said he recognized Vargo during the stop from a previous heroin-trafficking investigation.
Dixon said he recalled Vargo's trafficking habits and methods, which included utilizing the Turnpike to go to Monroeville to purchase heroin.
According to Dixon, Vargo and the driver of the car, Daren Lingenfelter, appeared nervous.
Dixon said Vargo then got out of the car and told him he could set up a heroin dealer.
Vargo and Lingenfelter told Dixon they had just gone to Monroeville Mall, where Vargo bought heroin from a drug dealer.
Authorities said they performed a search of the car and three bricks of heroin were located inside.
Vargo was then arrested and taken to the Westmoreland County Jail, where he remains.
