PITTSBURGH — Police are investigating an unusual break-in at a Pittsburgh church.

Channel 11 spoke with Father Larry DiNardo, who offered more details on the crime.

Investigators said a man made his way inside at St. Boniface Church in Spring Hill and made himself at home in the priest’s residence.

“From what I’ve been told by police, he went into the refrigerator, got a bottle of water, went into my living room and turned on the television,” DiNardo said.

DiNardo said the man appeared to use a rock to break glass and enter the building.

“Just walked in and knocked the door down. Broke the glass in the second door,” DiNardo said.

DiNardo was not there at the time of the break-in, but two women were there cleaning.

“They knew he was still here because his car was still here,” DiNardo said.

The man did not threaten anyone and did not appear to take anything.

“You never know if people have difficulties. Who knows? You never can tell,” DiNardo said.

Later Thursday night, police identified the man as Ahmet Zaimoglu, of Arnold. He faces charges of burglary, trespassing and institutional vandalism.
