PITTSBURGH — Authorities arrested a Beechview man early Sunday morning in the South Side after police said he pointed a loaded gun at pedestrians while fleeing from officers trying to arrest him.
According to police, several witnesses told officers that 28-year-old Thomas Ferrieri pointed a gun at pedestrians while driving a white Corvette.
When police located Ferrieri around 2:30 a.m., officers said he fled the scene and drove down East Carson Street. Police said he hit two officers with his driver’s-side door and caused two others to jump out of the way.
Authorities eventually took Ferrieri into custody. Officers said he appeared drunk and later passed out on the patrol car.
Several officers drew their guns, but no shots were fired, according to an affidavit police filed.
Officers found a loaded handgun, which was reported to have been stolen, near his car, according to police.
Ferrieri is facing several charges, including fleeing and eluding police and aggravated assault. He remains in the Allegheny County Jail and faces a preliminary hearing June 23.
