PITTSBURGH — Police arrested a second man wanted in connection with running a burglary scam on Craigslist throughout the Pittsburgh area.
According to police, 34-year-old Daniel Seals was arrested after a lengthy investigation into the Craigslist scam.
Investigators said Seals used his pressure-washing business as a way to gain his clients' trust before he would steal from them.
Seals would gain access to local bars, construction sites, stores and businesses through his duct-cleaning service, police said. He'd observe the businesses and then come back at a later date and burglarize them.
Seals is accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of items, including cash, fuel tools and a gun, and then trying to sell the items on Craigslist, police said.
In February, an employee from one of the businesses Seals targeted told police that a Craigslist ad listed tools very similar to the ones that had been reported stolen.
After police arranged a meeting with the seller of the online ad, 31-year-old Jeremy Caskey, of McKees Rocks, was arrested. Police said Caskey admitted to working with Seals in all of the robberies.
Seals remains in the Allegheny County Jail on $100,000 bond. He faces several charges, including theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
