NEW EAGLE, Pa. — A driver accused of fleeing from officers during a traffic stop in New Eagle, Washington County, is in custody, Southwest Regional police confirmed.
According to Washington County 911 dispatchers, police on Tuesday stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation along Route 837 at Maderia Street and found drugs in the car. The driver, Jeffrey Dezardo, 23, of Union Township, fled on foot, authorities told dispatchers.

Emergency dispatchers said Southwest Regional and Mon City police, along with California and McKeesport police K9 units, were called in for the search.
Channel 11's Renee Kaminski reported that as of 3 p.m., the Dezardo was in custody.
Authorities said Dezardo was found hiding and trailer in New Eagle about a half a mile from where he escaped police custody.
Dezardo is facing escape charges.
