Police surround home in Wilkinsburg after person of interest in shooting barricades himself

WILKINSBURG, Pa. — Police surrounded a home in Wilkinsburg on Monday while attempting to interview a person of interest in a shooting last week.

The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, Port Authority Police and officers with Wilkinsburg Police were on scene in the 500 block of Holmes Street.

Adam Brandolph, spokesperson for Pittsburgh Regional Transit, said that two people shot at each other at the Wilkinsburg Park and Ride last week. No one was hit.

As part of the investigation, Port Authority Police identified a person of interest. On Monday, Officers attempted to interview that person at his Wilkinsburg apartment, which resulted in a barricade situation when the man refused to come out, according to Brandolph.

The standoff lasted around one hour. The person of interest is now being questioned.

No charges have been filed at this time.
