Portion of road in Monroeville will close for bridge repair

MONROEVILLE, Pa. — A portion of Abers Creek Road near Cavitt Road in Monroeville will close starting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, for repairs to Abers Creek Bridge No. 3.

The project involves beam and barrier repairs to the bridge, which carries an average of 850 vehicles daily. Under National Bridge Inspection Standards established by the Federal Highway Administration, the structure currently holds a condition rating of three on a 0-to-9 scale, categorizing it in poor condition.

Pugliano Construction of Plum is serving as the primary construction contractor for the $86,623 project.

Traffic will be detoured using Northern Pike, Mosside Boulevard (Route 48), Haymaker Road and Saunders Station Road. Local homes located near the work area will remain accessible at all times during the closure.

Repair work is expected to be completed in November.
