The Pittsburgh Penguins (5-6-2) are unbeaten in three games with a pair of wins, but their most recent game left a horribly sour taste. They will face a young, emerging Stanley Cup contender in front of a boisterous crowd and national Canadian TV audience Saturday as they visit the Montreal Canadiens (8-3-2) at the Bell Centre.
The Penguins rallied to tie the game in the third period against the Utah Mammoth Thursday at PPG Paints Arena. Rickard Rakell snapped a wrister over the stick of Sebastian Cossa the equalizer and the Penguins took the lead with just 24 seconds remaining when Ben Kindel poked a rebound over the goal line.
However, the Penguins’ lead lasted just 23 seconds as Utah attacked and scored in the final seconds, taking advantage of soft defensive zone coverage. Logan Cooley, who was spectacular throughout the game, swatted a fluttering puck out of the air and past Penguins goalie Arturs Silovs with just one second remaining. Then Utah defenseman Mikhail Sergachev netted the winner in OT.
Murashov is expected to start Saturday.
