COLLIER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Drivers on busy Noblestown Road are hoping for some help. An old railroad crossing is causing issues for them.
Some have even reported popped tires because of it.
“Horrible. It’s just horrible,” Mari Murphy told Channel 11. She drives over the railroad crossing, right next to the JT Thorpe building, every day.
“You can see the metal rising up from the road. That’s what I’m worried about. That hitting a tire, hurting somebody, even going up into their car. It’s dangerous.”
Channel 11 was there as dozens of cars passed over it. Many slowed down. Others did not. The faster they went, the more the cars bounced. The crossing is owned by Pittsburgh & Ohio Central Railroad.
Murphy says a company official told her someone would be out to patch it in several weeks. She still has concerns.
“That they might not. I’ve been through this. I live in the City of Pittsburgh. You have to fight when you have a complaint. The railroad...that’s another story. They need to take care of the property.”
A spokesperson from POHC sent us a statement about the issue, saying: “We are aware of the issue and have repairs/patches slated. We will also look to increase inspections of this and other crossings in town to find any potential issues and minimize impact to community members.”
No exact date on repairs was given.
