Redevelopment director reports strong interest in East End housing sites

Pittsburgh Director of Redevelopment Yarone Zober reported a relatively strong response to the Request of Interest the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh issued in June for a collection of more than 250 scattered parcels in the Larimer neighborhood of the East End.

At the September board meeting of the URA, Zober provided an impromptu update on what he called the “RFI” the URA issued in June on the two collections of open parcels in Larimer, a neighborhood that extends east from Penn Avenue and includes Bakery Square and neighbors much of East Liberty.

“In Larimer, we received 13 responses from developers and some smaller individuals who wanted to build just a few,” said Zober. “Some of those developers are some of the biggest housing developers in the country. And many of them are market rate, many of them are affordable, many of them are low income housing tax credit deals that would be rental.”
