PITTSBURGH — Rivers Casino Pittsburgh paid $2.9 million on April 1 toward the construction expense of PPG Paints Arena, home ice of the National Hockey League’s Pittsburgh Penguins. The Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County and the casino jointly announced that $127.5 million has been funded to date.
Rivers Casino contributes $7.5 million annually to the SEA for the arena’s construction debt financing, with installments occurring in April and October each year. The next installment will be paid on Oct. 1, 2026.
By 2038, Rivers Casino will have contributed a total of $225 million per its agreement with the SEA for the arena’s construction, which was completed in 2010. Rivers Casino opened in August 2009.
