PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger believes his throwing hand should be fine when the Steelers travel to Cincinnati on Sunday.
Roethlisberger was hit in the wrist by Saints linebacker Curtis Lofton while throwing a pass in the Steelers’ 35-32 loss at home on Sunday.
Channel 11's Bill Phillips has learned that Roethlisberger is experiencing soreness, but he expects to be OK.
Roethlisberger wasn’t wearing any bandage or covering on his hand at Steelers headquarters on Monday.
Brett Keisel may be calling it a career.
The 13-year Steelers veteran tore his left triceps in the Steelers loss on New Orleans on Sunday. On Monday, the team announced Keisel was played on injured reserve, ending his season.
Keisel was an unsigned free agent during training camp, but the fan-favorite was in uniform for the Steelers opening game this season.
Teammates told Phillips they’ll miss Keisel’s leadership in the locker room.
"Keisel is the Pittsburgh, blue collar, hard-working, come from the bottom, kind of guy," teammate Ike Taylor said. "He is one of the definitions of living and being a Yinzer. You lose a guy like that you are losing a lot."
Keisel, 36, played in all 12 of the team’s games in 2014, making four starts, totaling 17 tackles, 1.0 sack and five pass break-ups.
The injury likely puts Keisel's career in jeopardy. Longtime Steeler defensive end Aaron Smith suffered a torn triceps in 2010 at age 34 and played only four games in 2011 before retiring.
