PITTSBURGH — A popular Ross Township restaurant has been given a yellow consumer alert by the Allegheny County health department.

Inspectors found approximately 30 unsafe food temperatures during a recent inspection at Tokyo Sushi Buffet on McKnight Road.

According to the inspection report, the salmon was at room temperature; the mussels at 60 degrees; and the steamed fish at 133, all temperatures that could potentially make people sick.

"I almost cried. I don't understand," said owner Anny Liu. "We try and we check and the food was very hot."

Target 11 consumer investigator Robin Taylor pulled previous inspection reports and discovered a recurring problem. Tokyo Sushi was cited for violations back in February, and before that, had been warned.

Inspectors also found foods not safe from cross-contamination and toxic items were not properly stored.

Inspectors will be back on Saturday and if the restaurant passes, the consumer alert will be lifted.

This is the fourth restaurant issued a yellow consumer alert in Allegheny County this year.
