BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. — Route 30 in Beaver County near the Ohio and West Virginia state line will be closed starting Wednesday through September, for road improvement, realignment and other upgrades.

The very busy major road will be closed in both directions between West Virginia and Route 168.

The owner of Jack’s Diner is nervous this will affect business because a lot of her customers are from Ohio and West Virginia.

”Hoping our customers will still come and support us,” said Biv Moore, the owner of Jack’s Diner.

For those customers, the diner posted this alternate route to its front door.

Moore also owns Southside Garage, which contracts with South Side Area School District.

The detours will also affect some students Southside Garage picks up near the state line.

”It’s a big closure; we have school students we have to go down and pick up,” said Moore. “We are going to have to detour 15 miles one way four times a day to get to those students.”

Moore says this project is needed. But many drivers think it’s a burden by adding several minutes to their daily commute.

”I think it’s kind of ridiculous. It’s a main roadway — millions of semis come through here so it’s not only me. but I think of all of them,” said Sarah Fisher.

”That’s my main way home so I’ll have to drive the long way around to get home,” said Michelle Malloy.

The closure is expected to end in late September.
