PITTSBURGH — Scaffolding fell from a building in Pittsburgh’s Strip District during strong winds, damaging several parked cars and a nearby building.

Police, firefighters and medics were dispatched to the area of 25th Street and Railroad Street for the collapse.

When officials arrived on scene, they found that a six-story scaffolding had fallen from a building that is under construction.

The construction crew on scene confirmed to medics that no one was on the scaffolding when it collapsed. No other injuries were reported.

Pittsburgh’s Department of Permits, Licenses and Inspections was called to investigate, city officials say.

An inspector saw damage to a new building under construction at 2558 Railroad Street, as well as an adjacent building at 2501 Smallman Street.

The general contractor confirmed that repair work is underway, officials say.

PLI and the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure do not regulate scaffolding design or installation, officials say; however, OSHA construction standards may apply.
