Scarves from Knit the Bridge project given to men at YMCA shelter

PITTSBURGH — A couple of weeks ago, Channel 11 told you that the materials left over from the Knit the Bridge project were used to make scarves.

On Friday, the black and gold scarves were given to men at the YMCA shelter's annual Thanksgiving dinner.

More than 100 men live at the shelter.

"We like to surprise them with nice things," said Dexter Hairston of YMCA.

Artists and children from the YMCA helped make some of the blankets that covered the Andy Warhol Bridge this summer for the Knit the Bridge project.
