PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Public School District school board voted Wednesday to approve a deal to sell the old Schenley High School building.
In a five-to-four vote, the board signed off on the sale to a development group for $5.2 million dollars.
The building will be converted into 175 luxury apartments.
"We are in a financial crisis. Why would we sell a building worth $90 million for $5 million?" said board member Mark Bentley.
Despite the approval, some board members weren't pleased.
Board members who voted in favor of the sale said they view the development as a way to create job opportunities for people in the city.
