SEA taps new operator for David L. Lawrence Convention Center

The Sports and Exhibition Authority unanimously approved a new contract for the management and operation of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

The SEA board approved the contract with Oak View Group (OVG) during it’s regular monthly meeting on Thursday. The contract was approved for a five-year period. The previous management agency for the convention center was Legends Global.

Michael Halpern, SEA procurement and MWBE specialist, said that after advertising an RFP, they interviewed both Oak View and Legends Global. Eventually, they chose Oak View due to its promise of significant investment in the space.
