MEADVILLE, Pa. — A man wanted in connection with a shooting in Ohio and causing a lockdown at Allegheny College earlier this week was arrested on Friday.
Meadville Police Chief Dave Stefanucci said Keith Green, the subject of the manhunt in Meadville on Wednesday, was taken into custody in Ohio.
Investigators said they were attempting to serve a warrant Green when he fled to the area on Wednesday.
College spokeswoman Kathy Roos said the school sent an email alert to students and staff that said police were in a foot pursuit with an armed man around Park Avenue and Church Streets adjacent to campus. The email told students and staff to secure doors and stay indoors until further notice, Roos said.
About 20 minutes later, the school sent out a second alert canceling classes and other activities for the remainder of the day, she said.
Witnesses said at one point Green kicked down a door and hid inside a home before continuing his flee attempt. Other witnesses told police they saw him running into a nearby cemetery.
Allegheny College has about 2,100 students and is about 40 miles south of Erie.
